What does acupuncture involve?

Examining the general condition of the body, and diagnosing in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Using sterilized and disposable needles, following the Clean Needle Technique to treat various diseases and conditions.

Is Acupuncture safe?

Yes. The sterile, disposable needles and the “Clean Needle Technique” used at our clinic are of the highest quality. The areas on your body used in treatment will be cleaned in advance with alcohol swabs (isopropyl alcohol, 70% v/v). You may experience some normal sensations with acupuncture: the insertion (which may feel like a mosquito bite) and the arrival of energy at the tip of the needle (which may feel warm, tight, distending, sore or tingling).

Is Acupuncture right for you?

Typically people use acupuncture as a supplementary therapy to enhance the health care they are already receiving. Some try it out because standard therapies haven’t been affective. Acupuncture can provide a more natural way to regain control of your health. We can promise you exceptional treatment for a competitive price.

What will my first session be like?

After filling out the necessary paper work so that Dr. Yu has a better grasp of your health history, you will be asked a few questions she may have for you, as well as asked what you would like to get out of the sessions. Each acupuncture treatment is personalized to work on the issues you would like to address. Dr. Yu also offers advice on what other parts of the body need attention as well.

More and more people are seeking help from acupuncture for its wealth of benefits.

How long does a treatment last?

Each treatment lasts one hour. Dr. Yu provides individualized attention and likes to take her time on each of her patients. This constant care heightens the quality of her work.

How many treatments will it take?

The number of treatments that you will need will vary according to your condition. One or two treatments may be sufficient for some acute conditions. Chronic problems usually require a longer treatment period with results not evident until after a few treatments.

Acupuncture treatments build a cumulative effect with time, so you will be able to increase the duration of time between visits as the results build.

How long will the results last?

This varies from person to person. Initially the results are short-lived and subtle. Subsequent treatments should provide longer-lasting and greater gains.

Will my insurance cover this?

Most insurance companies do not cover acupuncture, but we have come across a plan here and there that does. It will be a specific benefit unique to your plan — the only way to know is to call your insurance and ask, but know that for the most part, insurances don’t seem to cover it.

My Proud Testimony:

Last year I was placed on the National Organization of Transplant’s List. My doctors told me I was in desperate need of lungs. My lungs are being attacked by both Scleroderma and Sjogrens Disease, causing me to have Severe Pulmonary Hypertension, thus the need for lungs.

Cynthia Stein (my physical therapist of many years), recommended that I try acupuncture. I have had six acupuncture treatments with Dr. Yu and am happy to report that my breathing capacity has stabilized enough that I have been temporarily taken off the transplant list.

My doctors did not have an opinion on acupuncture. None of them have ever had, nor knew anyone who had had acupuncture, but they all believed and agreed that the treatments wouldn’t harm me in any way. They also had no scientific explanation as to why my condition had become stabilized.

Dr. Yu is a very caring individual. She takes the time needed to help each patient. Speaking for myself, I believe Dr. Yu CAN and WILL be able to help many feel better with whatever their medical issue may be. I am a believer!

Respectfully,

Linda Selig

Acupuncture is very successful at increasing fertility in women with troubles conceiving:

For one year, I attempted to get pregnant and was unable to conceive. So, I went to my OB/GYN, and they recommended that I do a fertility pill. I was uncomfortable with the idea of using medication to get pregnant, so my holistic doctor told me to see Dr. Yu, who is an acupuncturist. She told me that acupuncture could be successful in helping me to get pregnant.

I had been seeing Dr. Yu for five sessions over a course of two months, and I can honestly say that now I am expecting my second child! I have nothing but praises and a great admiration for Dr. Yu, and I highly recommend her for any problem you might have.
